A bid to unearth the “lost” Herefordshire village of Studmarsh is going ahead thanks to £49,000 of National Lottery funding.

A team of up to 50 volunteers, including people recovering from mental health problems, will take part in the Past in Mind project at the National Trust’s Lower Brockhampton Estate.

The teams will spend 14 months searching for archaeological evidence of Studmarsh. The village is mentioned in medieval documents but was only rediscovered in the 1970s when tell-tale "hump and bump” remains were spotted on an aerial photograph.
