EFFORTS to make organ donation a more common occurrence have been stepped up in memory of a courageous horse rider from the Welsh border.
Hundreds of people signed up as donors after loved ones launched a campaign to honour 68-year-old Talgarth resident Sandra Harvey.
Friend and campaigner Liz Rose said the Brecon and Talybont Hunt master, who suffered multiple head injuries when she fell from her horse last month, felt strongly about helping others after her death.
“We know Sandra would have been overjoyed that so many people have already signed up to the campaign, it’s an incredible tribute to an amazing woman,” Liz said.
Five patients benefitted after Sandra’s family bravely decided to donate her organs when she died days later at hospital in Cardiff, while hundreds of mourners attended a memorial service at St Gwendoline’s Church in the town.
