WITH reference to the advertisement placed in the Hereford Times of September 24 by Herefordshire Council and ESG, I would really love to know where ESG gets its statistics and figures from with regard to supposedly creating thousands of jobs and reducing traffic congestion.

The fact is that “creating thousands of jobs” is utter rubbish. With a new retail development, there would be a maximum of 600 vacancies at most and that’s not taking into account the number of redundancies that would be created in order for all of these “changes” to take place.

As for traffic congestion, what bubble do they live in? As far as I can make out, the only way to alleviate traffic from our city is to sort out and invest in the roads we already have.

Thank God I work for the motor repair industry with the amount of potholes I have to drive over each day to get my children to and from school and to get to work.

Yes, I believe our city needs revitalising but not at the cost of other people’s livelihoods. The new retail development and link road would bulldoze over so many businesses with nowhere to relocate them. Not a surprise that they are continually asked where the funding is for all these relocations and, as yet, they have failed to provide any answers.

What am I supposed to do when I am made redundant? I am lucky to have my job in the first place as I was made redundant last November due to the recession. Has the ESG board even taken into account the recession?

It’s Our City is a campaign to let ESG and Herefordshire Council know about Herefordshire people’s opinion.

I guess ESG is getting nervous with the fact that It’s Our City is doing its research and are taking the time to listen, something which they don’t seem to want to do.
