The highest Tory post-war vote since 1946 was 49.7% in 1955, and Labour 48.8% in 1951. No post-war government has had the same level of mandate as the 51.9% vote to leave the EU.

A survey of MPs pre- referendum indicated that 480 were Remainers. The UK/EU Establishment remains determined to prevent any EU break-up. Parliament is the people's enemy as it disregards our democratic vote. "First past the post" means just that - should the Olympic 100 metres be the best of three (or four or more)? The EU has a history of pushing for rerunning any vote it does not like until it gets the desired result.

Of the 195 or so countries in the world,  the EU has trade deals with just 36, and no trade deals with China, USA, India or Russia. How is panic about "no deal" justified?

The pound fluctuates. Generally, it is no lower now than it was occasionally pre the 2016 vote. It is low partly because interest rates are low, which keeps Government costs down and exports up.

We hear about threats to business, yet the stock market has been at record highs since 2016 and remains generally at levels not seen pre-referendum. Unemployment is low, jobs are at record levels. Tax receipts are high, and current borrowing is at a record low since 2001/2. Tales of impending doom are unjustified.

The EU is run by an unelected/undemocratic Commission, bullies non-conformists (eg current actions against Switzerland), and is corrupt. The estimated annual cost of corruption stands at 904 billion euros...enough for 1,772 euros per year (aprox £1560) for each EU citizen.

The quality of the Brexit negotiations has been dire, giving the EU the advantage. MPs should have presented a united front, but the opposite has happened with many MPs undermining the process, doing more damage to us than was ever done by Roger Casement or Lord Haw-Haw.

The words of Brutus in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar were never so apt - "There is a tide in the affairs of men which taken at the flood leads on to fortune. Omitted, all the voyage of their life is bound in shallows and in miseries. On such full sea are we now afloat, and we must take the current when it serves, or lose our ventures"

Yours faithfully, fighting the EU since 1972
