This week has seen another negative report on low satisfaction with the NHS. We are aware of the problems and overload the service faces but we also want to write about our experiences this week which we think show the good bits of the service.

Ten days ago I saw my excellent GP at Hampton Dene surgery about having an NHS hearing test, saying that I realised it would be a long wait. She agreed to refer me – a letter asking me to make an appointment arrived a week later, and the appointment was easily made online for two weeks’ time. Four days ago my husband saw a young and very helpful locum doctor who did some blood tests. Two days later the same doctor rang us with the results. An impressive service in our view and one which we appreciate.
