AN application has been made to the government for permission to increase tolls on the Whitney-on-Wye bridge.
Most of these old tolls were removed many years ago, and our alliance believes that, as drivers pay £50 billion of taxes a year, there is no excuse for them. Our long-term aim is that the remaining toll bridges are bought by the government and become part of the highways system.
As a first step towards this aim it is important that there are no toll increases. If any readers are concerned about the proposed toll increase we urge them to make a formal objection and to contact us by emailing me at naat@notolls.org.uk or by writing to the address below.
