Tom Trigg scooped a double accolade at Ledbury Town Football Club’s presentation evening, picking up both the first team’s Players’ Player prize and a joint Manager’s Award for the senior squad with midfielder Ben Febery.

Boss Ian Merrick praised the fantastic dedication, discipline and commitment shown by the ever-reliable defender.

Prolific striker Tom Boyle receive the top goal-scorer accolade after scoring 24 goals in total including four penalties.

ledbury Town Reserves managers David Butcher and Harry Powell praised their close-knit second side for finishing strongly exactly mid-table in Division One, giving their joint managers’ prize to popular player Kane Bruton.

Jai Smallwood earned the respect of his peers for another industrious season manning the back-line to pick up the Players’ Player award for the reserves. Jacob Clueit has impressed to receive this season’s Young Player Award.

Ledbury Town Swifts manager Neil Davis reflected on another promising season for the club’s relatively new thirds side, which continues to nurture new upcoming talent with many young players getting their first opportunity to play football at senior level.

The Swifts finished a second consecutive season clear of the bottom of Division Two of the Herefordshire League as Davis gave his managers’ accolade to Sam Billingham for giving a 100 per cent work rate all season in defence, also putting in the odd shift in goal as Harry Millis took the Players’ Player award for an extremely promising season up front.

England striker Emile Heskey, currently serving as head of football development at Leicester City Women, recently gave a talk at Ledbury Town.

The former Leicester City, Liverpool and Aston Villa star shared various stories about his career both international and closer to home, including memories of walking out of the tunnel and proudly singing the national anthem, as well as answering a variety of questions from an audience interested to know such facts as who inspired him to get into football as well as the greatest and indeed dirtiest players he has ever competed against.

Herefordshire FA and the Army FA will hold a family festival on Armed Forces Day (June 24) at the SSAFA County Ground.

The event will see three Herefordshire sides represent the county in fixtures versus the Army Reserve Men, Women and Masters sides.

The first fixture kicks off at 12pm and the day will run through until 6pm. In addition to the football, there will be a range of activities for all the family, including a bouncy castle, food stalls, ice-cream and a shooting range.
