COVID cases continue to be on the rise in Herefordshire, including in Ledbury and surrounding areas.

The number of recorded coronavirus cases in Herefordshire increased by 110 in the last 24 hours, official figures show.

Public Health England figures show that 3,790 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Sunday (January 3).

Cases in the county are currently running at 238.6 per 100,000, which is still well below the national average of 476.9.

The Government's interactive map shows that there were 17 new cases recorded in Ledbury up to December 29, a rise of 6 on the previous week, and a statistical rise of 54.5 per cent.

In the neighbouring Dymock, Hartpury and Huntley zone, there were 45 cases recorded, a rise of 20 on the previous week and a statistical rise of 80 per cent.

In the Fownhope, Tarrington and Marcle zone, there were 15 new cases, a rise of 5 on the previous week and a statistical rise of 50 per cent.

In the neighbouring market town of Newent, over the border in Gloucestershire, there were 22 cases, up 4 on the previous week and a statistical rise of 22 per cent,

But there was better news in the Wellington Heath, Colwall and Cradley zone, where only 3 new cases were recorded. This was up by one on the previous week.
