THE theme for this year’s Ledbury in Bloom campaign will be Colours of the Rainbow, and volunteers have already been hard at work, taking advantage of the early spring-like weather to make a start on the town’s flower borders.

Ledbury in Bloom chairman, Clive Gunn said: “The team members have been out and about already this year. People may have seen some changes in the beds and borders around Ledbury.

“At the station, volunteers Doreen Feakes and Gareth Morgan are helping new secretary Jane Gunn and Deputy Chairman Tina Vass tidying up the beds to get them ready for spring planting.”

The official start to the 2019 Ledbury in Bloom campaign was actually this Monday, February 25, with a committee meeting in the Community Centre at Lawnside Road.

But new faces and hands will be welcomed for the duration of the campaign season.

Chairman Clive Gunn said “You may also have noticed work on the Walled Garden, on The Gloucester Road where it meets Biddulph Way or at The Top Cross.

"We are always happy to see new faces and welcome new ideas. Is there an area of Ledbury near you that needs a facelift? contact us with your plans and we will help achieve your dream.

"If you are involved already in a project, come and tell us about it. Why not make a small investment in making Ledbury beautiful?”

Mr Gunn added: “This will be an exciting year. The work on the roundabouts will really make a difference with thanks to all those involved and more thanks to Ledbury Town Council who have appointed new suppliers for the hanging baskets."

Ledbury has achieved outstanding and continuous success in the Ledbury in Bloom campaign, achieving 12 gold medals in a row.

This year the team will be going for 13 gold medals, and the volunteers are not being superstitious.
