YOUNGSTERS at Busy Bees in Ledbury enjoyed a pre-Christmas treat, as PCSO David Alexander swopped his note book for a story book to enthral the children with exciting tales.

PCSO Alexander took time off the beat to call in at the Busy Bees base, The Hive, which is the former Ledbury Youth Centre, off Bye Street.

The Busy Bees -re-schoolers also enjoyed Christmas crafts sessions, in the countdown to the end of term.

Busy Bees manager, Emma Davis said: "The visit by PCSO Alexander was part of our community storytellers for Christmas project. In the run up to Christmas, I wanted the children to experience a wide range of Christmas stories, from traditional to newly published, from lots of different storytellers rather than the staff.

"I invited in members of the community to help with the project who were all very happy to help, enthusiastic about the opportunity to participate in our festive activities.

"Our storytellers included the father of the Manager and Supervisor, PCSO David Alexander, sixth formers from John Masefield High School, the Reception Teacher from Ledbury Primary School and the Manager of Tesco. We also borrowed the travelling nativity crib from St Michaels and All Angels Church which we used to retell the story of the birth of Jesus. The Christmas storytellers project was such a success that we’ve had people approach us already about being involved in the same thing for Christmas 2019. It was a real community event which tied in with our other Christmas activities which included singing to the residents of Leadon Bank, visiting the Church and making decorations for the town Christmas tree."
