LOCAL people will be able to get an update about repairs and planned improvements at the Lady Emily Community Hall in Tarrington, at a forthcoming AGM.

Hall trustees are preparing an application for Tesco funding, to improve the children's play area.

This could include the replacement of picnic benches and fence repairs.

And up to two new barbecue areas could also be constructed.

But John Tallis, chairman of the Lady Emily Committee Hall trustees, said: "The amount we do will depend on the size of the Tesco grant we get."

This is dependent on a system of public voting at the Ledbury store, off Orchard Lane.

Shoppers are routinely given blue counters and are invited to vote for one of three local projects and good causes, which are changed from time to time.

The more votes a project attracts, the money the grant money from Tesco's, because the order of grant allocations divide into first, second and third place.

Meanwhile, substantial repairs have already take place at the Lady Emily Community Hall.

Repairs have been completed for its distinctive porch. The original softwood structure has been replaced with oak timbers.

Hall trustees are also looking into buying new chairs for the hall, which is a centre for community life in Tarrington.

A recent Arts and Crafts Day raised £350 towards hall costs, showing considerable community support.

The guttering is in need of painting, and the trustees would welcome help from anyone willing to take on this particular task.

The diary date for the AGM is November 15, from 7pm, in the Committee Room.
