WITH half-term looming, Eastnor Pottery has announced details of its fun and creative themed workshop sessions for local children.

The 'Flying Potter' Jon Williams said: "Our event, Choctoberfest, borrows from the Bavarian festival of all things beer but has been given a much more age appropriate spin!

"Participants will use proper clay to make and paint a hot chocolate mug using the coil-pot technique. The creations will be left with us to be fired and glazed so when the young potter’s collect their creations from the studio, about one month later, they’ll be able to drink hot chocolate and marshmallows from them."

Potter Sarah Williams added: "There's nothing quite so satisfying as drinking from a cup or mug made by your own fair hand.

“I make fun and functional tableware and even after nearly 30 years of making, I still get a kick from using one of my own creations. It’ll be lovely for the children on a chilly autumnal evening to wrap their hands around a steaming cup of cocoa knowing they’ve hand-crafted it.”

The workshops designed for children as young as four will take place on two consecutive Wednesdays to account for the different half terms.

John said: "Gloucestershire will get to potter on October 24 and and Herefordshire and Worcestershire on the October 31."
