A SPECIAL harvest celebration at the Bentleys Castle Fruit Farm, at Castle Tump near Dymock, will also be a celebration of the agricultural year, thanks to the Ledbury Food Group.

In 2017, the Food Group followed all the activities at the farm and a stunning photographic record was made by member Pat Strauss.

And now those images will form part of a seasonal celebration at the farm, next month.

Farmer Chrissy Bentley said: "At Castle Fruit Farm, the plum harvest is nearly over and pears and apples are to start soon. Our summer workers are busily managing the harvest and fast ripening fruit. The heat has been a mixed blessing, tough for fruit trees and tough for the team, but good for flavour and ripening.

"This year we are planning to celebrate “harvest safely gathered in”, or at least halfway on Saturday October 20 here at the farm. We have had the pleasure of Ledbury Food Group following all our activities last year and the end result is a magnificent set of photos taken by Pat Strauss plus a slideshow and commentary gleaned from my farm blogs."

Mrs Bentley said: "The evening will be a chance to see the exhibition that Ledbury Food Group has created, and enjoy a shared supper and some music. So come and join us."

Those attending should bring a plate of food to share – "preferably as seasonal and as local as you can".

Music will be by Fiddler’s Two and other local folk musicians.
