PASSENGERS at Ledbury Station on Wednesday morning got onto the 7.50am train to Birmingham with no problems, only to face a 30 minute delay in moving off, because of a problem with the doors.
For much of the delay, passengers had no option of leaving the train, while train staff ran up and down the platform to try to fix the problem, which appeared to be with a rear carriage.
There were spasmodic annoucements about the problem, some of which were barely audible.
The delay was extended because of the need to wait from an incoming train from Malvern.
The line through the tunnel at Ledbury is single track.
Finally, the Birmingham train was able to move off, shortly after 8.20am.
Most of the rolling stock on the Hereford to Birmingham line is decades old.
