A LEDBURY youth has been issued with a Criminal Behaviour Order banning him from certain parts of the town.

Daniels Kalva, aged 14, is forbidden from entering the grounds of John Masefield High School or loitering in the area, entering the Walled Garden off Church Street, or entering or loitering outside the youth club in Bye Street.

The order was made at Hereford Magistrates Court following a request by West Mercia Police and lasts for two years.

The order also prohibits Kalva from behaving in any manner which is likely to cause any person harassment, alarm or distress in any public place or place to which the public has access.

This behaviour includes but is not limited to being verbally abusive, swearing or shouting, and acting aggressively or in a threatening and intimidating manner.

He is also banned from being in the company of two named individuals between 4pm and 10pm

PC Sarah Ransome-Williams from the Ledbury Safer Neighbourhood Team said: "Ledbury, like the rest of Herefordshire, is a very safe place to live, work and visit.

"Daniels Kalva has failed to comply with requests to change his behaviour, despite the efforts of police and partner agencies.

"He now has restrictions preventing him from associating with named individuals and from frequenting various areas in Ledbury, and if he breaches those restrictions, he will be arrested.

"I hope this sends a strong message that we will not tolerate this kind of behaviour in our towns and, working closely with our partners, we will continue to apply for these powers for anyone adversely affecting the community.

"If people do see Daniels Kalva breaching his conditions, they should call us on 101 so we can take action."
