MORE than 2,000 people crowded into Bromyard town centre on Sunday to see the annual Bromyard hop pocket race.
The event, part of the town’s celebration of hops, involves carrying a 70kg sack of hops over a 600-metre course.
This year’s winners, taking home the World Championship title, were Angie’s Angels, a team from the town’s King’s Arms pub.
Jamie Jacobson, of the festival organising team, said: “It was a very successful event.”
As well as the race, visitors were able to enjoy a vintage vehicle parade, an arts and crafts market, rural crafts demonstrations and live bands playing in the Market Square.
Results:
Womens World Champions team: Pink Pub; Overall World Champions team: Angies Angels; Youths World Champions team: Ice Gems; Childrens World Championship team: Stratford Hammers.
