POLICE are warning lorry drivers they could be fined for breaching a weight limit near Hereford's SAS camp.

Concerns had been raised that drivers heading to and from the site, on the outskirts of Hereford near Stretton Sugwas, were exceeding a nearby 7.5-tonne weight limit.

West Mercia Police said reports suggested agricultural vehicles were using Stretton Sugwas as a "cut through" between the A438 and A4103, exceeding the weight limit.

Police working in the Hereford rural north safer neighbourhood team said Vehicles which continued to use the route, near the SAS camp at Credenhill, risked being stopped by officers and receiving a fine.

The maximum fine for breaching weight restriction in £1,000.
