THE British Horse Society’s access and rights of way department is taking its Mapping Britain On Horseback project to Geo-10, an event of Geomatics and GIS innovations.

Geo-10, from March 24- 25 at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry, is the UK’s only dedicated geospatial trade exhibition, and incorporates an informative two-day conference.

Registration allows free entry to the exhibition, while members of the public can attend the numerous seminars for a fee.

The BHS will be on stand three, where members of the public can find out more about the society’s work in general but in particular how it is progressing with the mapping scheme.

Visitors will also be able to view and interact with the newly launched EMAGIN® (Equine Mapping and Geographical Information Network).

On day one, the BHS will be presenting a seminar to the GIS public and exhibitors detailing the need for the mapping project and how it is rapidly progressing.

The society’s senior access executive, Heather Clatworthy, said: “This is the second year we have attended this very specialist event.

“This is an excellent opportunity to raise awareness of our popular Mapping Britain on Horseback project, which is of benefit to not only riders and carriage drivers, but walkers and cyclists too.

“I strongly recommend people take advantage of the free tickets if they wish to come and see our GIS officer and the newly launched EMAGIN in action.

“This is also a perfect time for GIS students to avail themselves of our voluntary work placements at HQ, please come and talk to us to find out more about what we can offer”.

BHS GIS officer Ceri Watkins said “Although we already have almost 500 mapping volunteers, I am hoping we will attract more at Geo-10, in particular those wishing to test new software and products or become involved in our training courses”.

EMAGIN will go live on March 9 at emagin.org.
