THE British Horse Society honoured individuals and organisations who have supported the charity’s work at an awards ceremony at Saddlers Hall in the City of London.

Jeanne Hyett received the Bodynfoel Award for the person who has done most to promote the work of the British Horse Society.

Mrs Heyett said: “I’m gobsmacked to receive this award. I get involved in all sorts of different aspects of the horse world – as soon as the word horse comes up I’m there.

“My work has been very rewarding over the years, it’s been brilliant. I like meeting people, especially local authorities.

They don’t always like meeting me, though.”

Sylvia Sullivan-Tailyour won a welfare award for contribution to equine welfare over many years.

She said: “It is a great honour and I’d like to thank all those people who put me up for the award.”

Sue Rogers received an access award as the BHS member who has done most for equestrian access.

She said: “I love my work for the British Horse Society.

“I’ve done it for many years, I hope to do it for many more years, and I don’t really expect to be thanked in this wonderful way but it is very nice.”
