YOUNGSTERS at Weobley Primary School were overjoyed when their missing “mummy” returned safely.
The pupils put out an urgent appeal after finding that their six foot Egyptian Mummy had been “mummynapped”.
They created and displayed posters, wrote newspaper headlines and filmed television news reports.
Local Community Support Officer Dick Alford encouraged the children to complete missing person files and collect pieces of evidence and clues to be sent to the laboratories for forensic testing.
A ransom note, photographs and an answering machine message were later received from the “mummynapper”
requesting persuasive letters with reasons why the mummy should be returned, which were to be left at a drop-off point. CSO Alford eventually returned the Mummy to the school to pupils’ jubilation.
