THE A438 at Lugg Flats has re-opened – ahead of the closure of part of the A49 in Hereford.
The A438 had been closed between the River Lugg to the west of Lugwardine and Netherwood Lane since July 31, while Western Power Distribution (WDP) carried out works to protect the electricity supply to 8,000 people in Hereford.
WPD initially committed to completing the bridge repair works by Friday 25 August 2017.
An extension until 30 August was agreed between Herefordshire Council and WPD to allow works to be completed before the start of the new school term.
But inspections of the road discovered it was not 'safe' to re-open and it was put back further before re-opening ready for this morning.
