THERE is the possibility of spotting kingfishers and otters on a walk arranged by a county charity.

Herefordshire Wildlife Trust is holding a Walk for Wildlife to raise money to look after the 55 nature reserves in its care.

The 12.5-mile walk follows the course of the River Lugg starting from the Lugg Meadow on the outskirts of Hereford city by the trust’s offices at Lower House Farm, off Ledbury Road.

Heading north, the route will finish at Queenswood Country Park and Arboretum.

Much of the route runs through private land which has been made accessible on the day, while other parts follow public footpaths.

The walk starts at 9am. Dogs on leads are welcome.

Registration for the event costs £12 per adult, under 14s are free and additional sponsorship is welcome.

The walk takes place on Saturday, September 30.
