MAY 16 saw the return of The Courtyard's annual Dementia Arts festival - Remember Me. In its seventh year, the day long festival aims to not only raise awareness of dementia, but also provides a fun filled day for people living with dementia, their carers, family and friends.

The day kicked off with the wonderful Herefordshire Care Home Choir and Madley Primary School, performing some of their favourite songs including Abba's hit Thank You for the Music. Creative and inclusive activities ran throughout the day, including drumming and singing workshops, The Big Draw event and craft workshops where visitor's accessorised their very own Creative Ageing tote bag with prints and fabrics.

Visitors were invited to take a turn on the dance floor as Miss Kitty returned for the second year running with her Spectacular Tea Dance featuring a star magician, whilst Artspace Cinderford provided an aerial silk hammock where attendees could capture the feeling of flying with the greatest of ease.

A whole range of projects and regular classes run at The Courtyard all year round, including training programmes for artists, care professionals or anyone interested in developing their skills to work with older people. So if you missed out on the event, there are still plenty of opportunities to get involved.

This event is run by The Courtyard's Creative Ageing team, in partnership with The Alzheimer's Society. It has been made possible through funding from The Big Lottery Reaching Communities Fund, Glencora Fund, The Herefordshire Community Foundation and Welsh Water.
