BROMYARD Branch of the Royal British Legion joined the ranks at the Town Crier's event on May 5 and took along with them their Poppy for a Loved One heart.

This is where anyone can write a personal message to a loved one and then in October that message will be attached to a Bromyard bypass poppy.

It can be any type of message, even a drawing; Oscar a young boy from Worcester drew his beloved toy monkey called Donk for his card and sister Robyn drew Peder Nielson, the Town Crier, in his Town Crier blue coat.

Mayor and Mayoress Fred Clark and Jan Scrine were resplendent in Mayoral chains but they were rather outdone by the most regal, elegant, uniformed clad Criers and their ladies.

Jan and Fred opened the event and after a few words from Bromyard Crier Peder Nielson the running order for the competition was drawn and they were all soon up and running.

Touching words from the Royal Wootton Bassett Town Crier as his cry was a testament/dedication in recognition of the town's role in the military funeral repatriations, which passed through the town.

Poppy for a Loved One took £35 - these funds are to pay for the running of all three commemorative events this year with the profits being given to the Poppy Appeal.
