THERE was a good attendance at the Hereford and Mid-Wales Philatelic Society meeting on November 1.

The main event of the evening was a display by visiting speaker Mark Bailey on the subject of Expo 58.

The display covered the period leading up to the opening of the World's Fair on April 17, 1958, and all the stamps issued whilst the Expo was being held, and afterwards. Mark completed his display with items relating to the celebration in 2008 of the 50th anniversary of Expo 58.

John Setchfield gave a vote of thanks and the president Frank Bennett presented Mark with a certificate to thank him for his display.

The society meets at St Martins Parish Centre, Ross Road, Hereford at 7.30pm on the first Wednesday of each month. New members welcome.

Members of the society collect stamps, post cards and postal history and have several displays each year by visiting speakers. There is ample parking space.
