LLANGORSE Sailing Club, which draws membership from the Brecon Beacons area, Monmouthshire and South Herefordshire areas has sailed-through a vital assessment that establishes its credentials as a high quality training provider in sailing and power boat handling.

The periodic inspection is vital to the club's status as the area's RYA (Royal Yachting Association) Registered Training Centre.

Commodore, Colin Fletcher said: "We are all volunteers, but we meet standards required by fully professional centres which operate on a commercial basis. The qualifications we provide meet the highest standards in instruction in sailing and power-boat handling - which can be used not only in the UK, but internationally."

The club provides training for adults and children alike using the John Morgan Training Centre which was opened as part of the new clubhouse in June, this year.

Colin Fletcher added, "We're proud to meet the high standards of the RYA and act as champions for the body in the area. We passed our inspection with no actions to complete. This bears credit to our training principal, Richard McCulloch, to our chief instructor, Nick Taylor, to our chief instructor - powerboating, Keith Walden - and to the many instructors and assistant instructors, all of whom offer their time to support the club. And it's high quality training, delivered with enthusiasm in great surroundings, which sustains our sport, offers trainees great life-skills, and provides a unique leisure amenity for the National Park and the area."
