SOUTH Marches are pleased to announce that Scouting has been started in Kington again. Last week, there was a huge Investiture Ceremony where all the new adult volunteers, Cubs and Beavers made their promise in front of friends and family and members from the district team.

Hayley Kitchen, the Group Scout leader said - "I'm very proud of all of the Beavers, Cubs and adult volunteers that have made a commitment to Scouting in Kington. The first term has seen our Cub Pack at full capacity and our Beaver Colony thrive with the intention to open a Scout Troop in the coming months and I'm proud to be part of making new and exciting opportunities for the young people of Kington in the future."

The opening of the group has been well supported by the local community. Donations have been received from Kington Lions and Elizabeth Passey.

A huge contribution has been made by Mrs Owen, a previous Beaver leader in Kington. Her son Mark, who sadly passed away recently, was the Scout leader. Mrs Owen has passed on the Beaver flag to the new group, and Mark's scarf (from the original group). She also presented them with a donation which will be used to buy a flag for the group with a dedication to Mark on the flag pole.

On the same evening, Richard Frost, team DC, presented Hayley with her Wood Badge, which signifies the completion of her training as Group Scout Leader.

South Marches would like to wish everyone all the best in their new Scouting adventures.
