BROMYARD Royal British Legion were out in force at the Bromyard Kempson Players Party in the Park on May 27.

The Players kindly permitted the RBL to fundraise for their three First World War commemorative events later this year: Poppy Pageant on September 15, planting 3000 plus poppies on the by-pass on October 21 and the Poppy Festival in St Peter's Church on November 3.

Despite non-stop torrential rain until nearly 2pm the organisers held there nerve and this exceptionally well organised event took place. Lots of stalls, live music, huge raffle, good food, ices and drinks and yes the sun did come out and shone all afternoon.

Kempson Players Park is a gem of a park in the middle of Bromyard. Lady Lucy Caroline Kempson left the land in her will on December 23, 1946 for "Recreation, sport and for use as a public park".

The Kempson Players is a self-funding group and have to rely on events such as this one to keep the park going.
