HEREFORDSHIRE Photographic Society installed Cliff Spooner as their new chairman at their AGM recently in Bartestree Village Hall, relieving long term stalwart, Geoff Watts.

Cliff was awarded his Licentiate in Photography by the Royal Photographic Society last year, became a Qualified Member of the Guild of Photographers, from whom he recently received two Gold Awards for photographs in their nationwide Image of the Month competition. He also contributes to the Hereford Times Camera Club.

The new chairman said "We are looking forward to an exciting new program of events for our society when meetings recommence on September 6. We welcome complete novices to professional experts, and aim to attract as many new members as possible to enjoy, learn, and share their photographic interests."

He continued "Most people have a mobile phone with a camera so everyone is a photographer now! Whether you have an iPhone, box Brownie, or a gleaming new DSLR, use film or digital, we try to cater for all tastes and always enjoy seeing something new that people are willing to share. Even if you just like looking at photos you are invited to join us".

The society has been part of Herefordshire life since forming in 1885, and meets on alternate Thursday evenings at Bartestree Village Hall.

The current website h-p-s.org.uk will be revamped over the summer, and future news and contacts will be published on the new site.
