DEMENTIA Friendly Leominster held a cheese and wine party at Grange Court on May 23.

The purpose of the event was to raise awareness of dementia during Dementia Action Week and also to celebrate all that has been achieved in the community so far.

Over 70 people came along to find out what they can do to raise awareness and reduce stigma.

Twenty five people attended the dementia friends information sessions which took place in the Mayor’s Parlour and were presented by Rita Graham. There was plenty to see and learn and there were stalls set up by local organisations including Leominster Meeting Centre, 2gether Trust, the Baptist Church and the Alzheimer’s Society.

The event and much of what has been achieved has been possible due to the fundraising activities carried out by Angela Pendleton during her year of office as Mayor. Dementia Friendly Leominster was one of her chosen charities.

The chairman of Dementia Friendly Leominster, Cheryl Poole thanked all those who attended and said that a great deal had been achieved but there was still a lot of work to do.
