THE welcoming committee have been out in force to put the finishing touches to plans for this year’s Thornbury Summer Fête.

This year, attendees are invited to the beautiful surroundings of Netherwood Manor as guests of Lord and Lady Darnley. The fête will be opened by Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Herefordshire, the Dowagar Countess of Darnley at 12.30pm. As ever, there’ll be village games, barbecues and beers, plus tea and cakes on the lawn.

Just off the Bromyard to Tenbury Wells road, Netherwood Manor dates back several hundred years and boasts its own walled garden, beautiful green lawns and a number of historic barns.

The barbecue will light up at 12.30pm as The Thornbury Arms opens for business. For the competitive among you, there’s clock golf, guess the weight of the sheep, the ladder game, and Glyn’s famous skittle challenge.

Leave time to check out the plant, produce and white elephant stalls, and don’t forget to try your luck at the popular raffles and tombola.

For the quintessential English experience, whether you’d like to score at skittles, wander through limitless gardens or simply take tea and enjoy the views, we’d love to see you!
