A HEREFORD hairstylist has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.
Sam Millard-Power, owner of Flaunt salon in Hereford, is in the running to be crowned the best stylist in the region, after being shortlisted for the Midlands Hairdresser of the Year.
The title up for grabs is the prestigious HJ’s 2024 British Hairdressing Awards, which is judged anonymously by over 100 leading hairdressers, including celebrity hair stylists, salon owners and previous winners.
Winners of the coveted title are set to be announced at a red-carpet ceremony in November at Grosvenor House, a JW Marriott Hotel in London’s Park Lane.
Previous winners have included famed hair icons such as, Nicky Clarke, John Frieda, and Charles Worthington.
Sam joins five other finalists, having submitted four photographic images showcasing their technical and creative hairdressing expertise.
The final round of judging will take place this October and requires finalists to submit a further four images, making a complete collection of eight. Both stages of judging are independently audited and verified.
"Reaching the finals feels incredible – I’m over the moon!
"The standard of entries is always so impressive so it’s a real ‘pinch me’ moment to have made it this far.
"I love producing collections which show what I’m about as a hairstylist, and I hope the judges will recognise the passion and personality behind my work." He said.
Not only has Sam wowed with this impressive achievement, his salon has also been shortlisted for the 2024 Salon Awards, with Flaunt up for both Best New or Refurbished Salon and Creative Image of the Year.
Jayne Lewis-Orr, Executive Director of HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards said: "The past forty years have seen us celebrate the most exciting and creative individuals working within this fantastic industry.
"Four decades on, HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards continue to recognise excellence, passion and technical ability, and it is privilege to honour those who are exceling in their field.
"Sam has demonstrated a level of skill and expertise that is to be admired and he should be applauded for this remarkable achievement."
