A WINDOW display in a iconic Hereford shop has given passers by a glimpse into its history.

Philip Morris and Son, on Widemarsh Street, has decked its window out in memorabilia from its 177 years trading in the city.

The shop was established in Hereford as an ironmongers in 1845. Very much still a family business Philip Morris & Son has developed into department store and online website in recent times.

The store is known for its window displays and recently had a colourful royal themed arrangement for the Platinum Jubilee.

Its latest window display features the Philip Morris & Son timeline which shows the history of the shop and key events throughout its lifetime, along with some relics and rarities including past uniforms, historic equipment, products and some of the accolades and awards that have been awarded to the business throughout its history.

A spokesperson said on the shop's official Facebook page: "As a mainstay on the high street in Hereford for over 175 years, we are incredibly proud of our heritage.

"Come and have a trip with us down memory lane."
