AN INDEPENDENT pop-up pizza restaurant in Hereford has been so successful it now has a permanent home.

Leaven Pizza has joined the Hereford-based Rule of Tum collection of restaurants and will operate in The Yard in Aubrey Street, the communal outside dining area the group opened during the pandemic.

It will open on Friday (November 26) from 5pm with a soft launch, offering 50 per cent off all pizzas.

Previously, Leaven has popped-up at places such as Hereford venues such as The Shack and Bastion Street Feast and offered home pizza-making kits and deliveries during lockdown.

During the lockdown, the outlet provided home pizza-making kits and deliveries.

As well as being served in The Yard, pizzas will also be available for delivery and takeaway.

The business was originally started by Jon Stead, one of the founders of A Rule of Tum, and Lara Castro-Griffiths.

The pair said they wanted Leaven to share the food they love with the community and to make pizza, specialising in sourdough, using organic grains and long fermentation, and using local producers where possible

Dorian Kirk, A Rule of Tum director, said: “We will provide the same sourdough pizzas that Leaven is known for, including the passion and quality Jon and Lara lived by.

"We will be using the same starter for the dough and the same high-quality ingredients. Thank you to Jon and Lara for passing us the torch, you guys are legends, we promise to take good care of Leaven.“
