DUMPED clothes are piling up outside a clothing bank at a Hereford supermarket.

The items have been left next to the clothing bank outside the Co-op in Grandstand Road, Hereford.

Heaps of clothes have been left on the ground and in trollies, with no protection from bad weather.

Shop manager Gareth Jones said it had become a regular problem.

He said: "The bin is not even full most of the time. People don't put things in it, they just dump rubbish around it."

The clothing bank is run in partnership between the Co-op and the Salvation Army. It collects donated clothes and shoes for people in need.

A spokesperson for the Salvation Army said she were aware of the clothing being left outside the clothing bank.

She said: "We try to discourage people from leaving clothes at the side of the bank.

"The clothes won't get to their destination if they are stolen or ruined by bad weather.

"Leaving clothing outside the bank will also encourage fly tipping."

She said a collection team would be removing the clothes in the next 24 hours.
