Hereford Lidl: Inside expanded and revamped shop

PICTURES inside Hereford's newly refurbished Lidl show its improved product range, larger bakery and other new facilities such as a customer toilet.

The shop reopened on Thursday morning at 8am with some customer queueing outside, eager to get back into the supermarket after its five-month closure.

With a brighter, fresher feel to the Brook Retail Park shop, the extension into the neighbouring shop and general refurb was part of Lidl's £1.3 billion investment into its expansion across Great Britain in 2020 and 2021.

The shelves were full on Thursday morning, with the budget supermarket, off Commercial Road, open between 8am until 10pm Mondays to Saturdays, and 10am until 4pm on Sundays.

The sales area has been expanded to 1,104m2 as the supermarket expanded into the neighbouring unit, formerly Blockbuster.

The supermarket also has new facilities, such as a customer toilet, an improved fresh offering and a larger bakery section, Lidl said.

Lidl GB’s regional head of property Paul Hebblethwaite said: “We would like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding whilst we have carried out these improvement works at our store in Hereford.

"We are delighted to be able to open the store once again to residents and deliver an even greater range of our fresh, high quality and affordable produce as well as an enhanced shopping experience.”

As per the latest government guidance, while no longer legally required, it is recommended that those who can, continue to wear face coverings in crowded or indoor spaces, including when visiting Lidl's hops in England.

Across all of shops, dedicated cleaning stations at entrances, hand sanitiser, and protective screens at checkouts will also remain in place.
