A NEW casino is gearing up to open in Hereford city centre, with new signs going up on an empty shop.

National chain Luxury Leisure first revealed plans for the vacant Commercial Street shop in February when it asked Herefordshire Council if it could change the use of the building.

After planners agreed it could be changed from a betting office to an adult gaming centre, worked started on sprucing up the shop, opposite McDonald's, as it's turned into a Admiral "casino slots experience".

The chain did not confirm when the new casino would open when asked by the Hereford Times.

On Admiral's website, it advertised it would be open from 9am until midnight seven days a week, including bank holidays.

It said: "As part of the Admiral experience, you’ll be able to enjoy regular daily offers and rewards whenever you visit us.

"We also provide free machine-side catering and refreshments, all served in a luxurious gaming environment.

"Our top of the range slot machines offer a wide variety of game titles, including the latest releases and all of your favourite classics.

"We’re confident you’ll find your ideal game at Admiral in Hereford.

"We love making new players feel welcome. If you’ve never played with us before be sure to make yourself know to a member of our team.

"They’ll be more than happy to assist with any questions you may have.

"There’s also lots of special offers available to new customers, so don’t miss out."

When applying for planning permission, consultants working for Luxury Leisure said they understood the shop had been empty for at least five years and proposals would enhance the area.
