THE cold Spring temperatures mean fruit pickers will have to wait a little longer to enjoy some of the best of the county's seasonal produce.

But Tim Gilbert, who together with wife Nicky owns Tillington Court Farm, said there is nothing too worry about as long as no severe cold snaps kick in.

The first asparagus has been cut and there should be enough of the vegetables for customers to pick by May 7.

Strawberries, meanwhile, should be ready towards the end of next month.

Mr Gilbert said: "We haven't had anything too severe but the temperature has been a bit cooler than usual.

"We should just be a touch later than usual as long as nothing out of the ordinary happens over the next few weeks."

The farm, which lies just a few miles north of Hereford, will also be open to pickers of raspberries from June and cherries by mid July.
