A Ross-on-Wye man has admitted charges of affray and having a machete as an offensive weapon.

Gareth Robins, aged 33, of Wall House Road, had earlier pleaded not guilty to threatening to kill Sandie Birch-Gavin and to threatening to damage her property last November.

Those pleas were accepted by prosecutors at Gloucester Crown Court last Friday when he admitted an alternative count of affray.

He had already admitted having a machete in Newent on the same date.

Judge Jamie Tabor QC agreed to adjourn for a pre-sentence report to be prepared on Robins who was bailed until July for sentencing.
