A STRIKING sculpture by Malvern artist Antony Poels is on display until the end of the year in the Lady Arbour Cloister Garden in Hereford’s newly restored Cathedral Close.
The sculpture of an apple is constructed of nickel plated mild steel, and takes the viewer through a journey of line and shadow, movement and balance. Depending on the strength, quality and angle of light the viewer’s experience is always different.
Antony has lived in Malvern since 1978 and his company has made reproductions of classical works, many of them for television and film productions. Among other commissions is the memorial to Diana, Princess of Wales, at Burghley House and more recently he has been commissioned to design a 21-metre high pear tree to be sited beside the M5 motorway in Worcestershire.
