AN anonymous street artist from Herefordshire has left his mark on a village school.
Clehonger Primary School launched an appeal in March for Hereford’s answer to Banksy to paint a mural in their playground.
Sadly they didn’t find their man – but a mystery rival proved he’s down with the kids by responding to the school’s request.
The artist was picked after showing examples of his work to teachers and school council members during an interview.
The “abstract” work includes trees, the school logo, and a wise owl who studied at Clehonger.
The artist spent four days and 20 hours producing the mural without charge, although the school provided some materials.
Teacher Grace Sage said the artist did a tremendous job but wasn’t the person behind the recent stencils in Hereford.
“Someone read the story in the Hereford Times about the work outside the former Sportsman Inn and recommended this guy to contact us,” said the year three teacher.
“He wasn’t Hereford’s Banksy but he’s a street artist and we went through his work. The artist wishes to remain anonymous.”
