Clehonger SCHOOL - Thoughts are turning to the end of year key stage two production.

The playground is looking fantastic thanks to a volunteer artist creating a mural in the school playground. Class three travelled to Shortwood Farm to meet a Ugandan farmer.

Jane showed the children how to balance water carriers on their heads and how to plant potatoes. The highlight of the trip was milking the cows by hand.

COUNCIL - Clehonger Parish Council heard that Allensmore Nurseries has agreed to complete a herbaceous/trees/plants makeover of the recreation ground on August 21, the day of the carnival/fete. The idea behind this is that the community can see in action that the environment is changed for the better. It was agreed in principle, however the parish council would like to know where and to remind them not to forget that the tractor needs to be able to get in and cut hedge and grass. Chris Lea reported that there had not been much crime in the area.

The school had been broken into once and the police had spoken to some youngsters, and cameras have been suggested at the school. A couple of tractors had been stolen in early February and he stressed for people not to get too complacent. Ideas were suggested on ways to celebrate the diamond jubilee such as planting an oak tree, the possibility of something made of stone, and coins for children who live in village. The state of the roads was discussed and members of the public were told that they would be resurfacing the bus route roads in Clehonger in the new financial year. The next meeting of Clehonger Parish Council is today (Thursday) at Innesfield Community Centre at 7.30pm.
