THE future Princess William of Wales will not be the only Kate Middleton wearing a wedding dress tomorrow.

But while those gathering in London cannot wait for the vows to be exchanged, one woman living locally who shares the same name as Prince William’s bride cannot wait for the day to pass.

Kingstone’s Kate Middleton has welcomed good and bad fortune in equal measure since the royal engagement was announced and wedding fever took hold.

But now, with the finish line in sight, Herefordshire’s 23-year-old Kate is planning a big day procession of her own to celebrate.

“I have endured weeks of jokes and puns about my name, phones being hung up as they thought I was a prankster,” Kate said. “So I thought I would use it to my advantage finally and raise some money for a good cause.”

After a quick visit to internet site eBay, and a chat with family and friends, she has decided to don a wedding gown and visit local street parties to raise money for St Michael’s Hospice. Dedicated Kate even managed to track down a blue engagement ring similar to the one worn by her namesake.

Starting in Kingstone, Kate will make her way to Madley, Clehonger and Eaton Bishop before reaching Hereford city centre and other local festivities.

“They do such good work it seemed logical to give to the local hospice,”

she said. “We’ll be on it all day.”

Until then, however, she will just have to console herself with the fact that being Herefordshire’s own Kate Middleton does have some perks.

“We did go on holiday earlier this year and we got a free upgrade because people didn’t know who was coming,” she said. “We had a balcony and everything.”
