HEREFORD’S first supplementary school has officially opened – and is already looking to expand.
Fifty children are now taking extra lessons in Polish language and culture every Saturday at Whitecross High School.
And it is hoped that other nationalities will soon be catered for including Portuguese, Lithuanian and Estonian.
Headteacher Dominika Lipska said: “Children are happy to dedicate their Saturdays to further their education, retain their roots and progress their integration into the local community.
“Cultural diversity is something to be treasured and shared for the good of all sections of the community and the school will be taking part in some of the events being organised in the county by the Polish community during 2011.”
