SUPPORTERS and celebrities joined royalty last week to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the county charity Breast Cancer Haven.

Prince Charles welcomed Herefordshire residents Rodney Smallwood and Tamsin Clive to a reception at Clarence House in London, alongside gusts such as newsreader Sophie Raworth, presenter Gaby Roslin and popstar Kimberley Walsh, to mark a decade of support for people suffering from breast cancer.

Mr Smallwood, provincal grand master of Herefordshire Freemasons, and Mrs Clive, a founding member of the Hereford Haven fundraising committee, were also greeted by charity founder, trustee and therapist Sara Davenport.

Ms Davenport said: “It’s wonderful to see how far we have come since 2000 when we opened the doors of our first haven.

“Our programme is constantly being reviewed and refined according to visitor feedback, and we feel proud that the service we offer is unique in the UK and so greatly valued by the many women and their families living with breast cancer.”

The Hereford centre on St Owen’s Street was opened by the Prince of Wales, who is charity patron, in 2004 and offers cancer sufferers emotional support and a range of complementary therapies to help them cope.

Mr Smallwood, who is also a senior partner at city solicitors TA Matthews, has financially supported the charity through the Freemasons and hopes to continue to do so in future.
