HEREFORD United vice-chairman Tim Russon has told the Hereford Times the club has had a flurry of applications for the vacant manager’s role at Edgar Street.
Bottom-of-the-table United yesterday sacked manager Simon Davey and his assistant Andy Fensome after a dismal start to the season.
"It was a difficult decision to make," said Russon. “We've been told we have a good set of players and we shouldn't be where we are.
"But our record is woeful, at some stage we had to make a decision.”
Davey had been given a two-year deal and United have made a settlement to the former Barnsley boss.
"We're not going to rule anyone in or anybody out at this stage,” said Russon.
"We've already had a flurry of people coming in by e-mail.”
Russon and chairman David Keyte will be sitting down and drawing up a shortlist of potential targets.
