A GROUP of Herefordshire ‘wannabies’ with an average age touching 100 is fine tuning its acts ahead of a musical talent show.
The young at heart performers from Leominster Residential and Nursing Home are gearing up for a Britain’s Got Talent-style show featuring singing as well as poetry recitals.
Among the headline acts are 98-year-old Leslie Evans and 94-year-old Peggy Conolly, who are determined to be on song during the Bupa Wants Talent showdown on October 1.
Home staff dressed as talent show judges, including Simon Cowell and Sharon Osbourne, will oversee the event which takes place at the Bargates-based venue.
The idea is being backed by The Zimmers, a group of pensioners who had a top 40 hit in 2007 with their version of The Who’s My Generation.
“It’s not often that older people get the chance to take centre stage and enjoy their share of the limelight, and we’re really looking forward to showcasing the talents of our residents,” said home manager, Monica Hartley.
Anyone wishing to attend the show should call 0845 600 4622 or email talent@bupa.com.
