INDUCTION SERVICE - The Bishop of Hereford conducted the induction service for the new vicar, Rev Nicholas Lowton, at Clodock church yesterday (Wednesday).

CLODOCK CHURCH FETE - Will take place tomorrow (Friday) at 7pm in the field next to the village hall, where there will be a variety of stalls, games and competitions plus refreshments.

The Herefordshire archaeology team has arranged a series of lectures to coincide with the Olchon Valley excavations. The next one is today (Thursday) at 7pm in the village hall and is on the subject of Progress and People, led by Lara Bishop and Tim Hoverd.

CHARITY - The Darren’s Dash charity running and activity event organised by Longtown outdoor education centre was a huge success, raising more than £1,000 to be split between the Longtown mountain rescue team, the Noah’s Ark appeal and the Longtown OEC bursary fund.

WORKSHOPS - The Discovery Club has had an exciting year providing workshops for children. Since 1993 when it began, the membership has totalled several hundred children from Longtown and the surrounding area – a huge achievement. September will see a new team of volunteers taking the club forward. Meanwhile, everyone in Longtown wishes to thank Sharon, Hazel, Katherine and Joyce for all their hard work at the club over the past years.

FETE - The PTA fete at Longtown Primary School was successful in raising more than £1,000. Years 5 and 6 have enjoyed a residential trip to Manor Adventure, along with the children from Michaelchurch Primary School.
