BIG BANDS - There is a big bands bash at Titley Village Hall on Friday, July 16, from 8pm. Performing will be Floyd Earl Band and Sherri Trifle.

Tickets are £10 and can be purchased from any hockey team member, the Royal Oak or CCF in Knighton.

COFFEE MORNING - There is a coffee morning and table sale this Saturday at the Barley Mow from 10am to noon. There will be a bring-and-buy, cake stall plus garden produce. To book a table or for more information, call Ange on 267265.

MOTOCROSS - There are Motocross AMCA, MX1 and MX2 championships at Downwood Farm in Shobdon on Sunday from 10am. There will be loads going on including a bouncy castle and quad bike area. Refreshments will be available.

GATHER ROUND - Marion Rowlatt is again inviting you to gather round the piano at the Assembly Rooms and sing for fun this Saturday from 11am. The sessions are open to everyone from aged nine to 90 and the cost is £4.

FLORAL ARTS - The next meeting of Presteigne and Borders Floral Arts Society will be on Wednesday in the Memorial Hall from 7.30pm. This month Julie Pearce will be giving a flower arranging display entitled One Step Through the Clouds. This month’s competition is to depict a county and is open to everyone. Visitors are welcome.

FUN DAY AND PICNIC - Presteigne Little People’s Playgroup is having a fun day and picnic at Wentes Meadow on Wednesday from 11am to 2pm.

There is free admission and free activities including junk modelling, mini drum workshops, a sawdust maze and lots of games. Please bring your own picnic.

BUS AND RAIL GUIDES - The new Powys County Council bus and rail guides are now available from the Community Support Shop in the High Street. Pick one up free of charge.

CHOIR - Rhayader Male Voice Choir along with soloist Matilda Phillips will be appearing at the Baptist Church on Saturday from 7.30pm. Admission is £7 at the door and everyone is welcome.

GARDENS OPEN - Kinnerton gardens will be open along with an arts and crafts exhibition on July 17 and July 18, from 1.30pm to 5.30pm. Entry by map, available from Kinnerton Village Hall, will be £2.50. All proceeds go to the village hall.

WINE BAR - The newly-opened wine bar in the High Street is having theme nights from 6pm when you are invited to take along old records to play.

Mondays will be blues and Wednesdays will be jazz.

DARTS - There is an open pairs roundrobin darts competition with a first prize of £200 at Presteigne Football Club on August 1. Doors open at noon with the draw taking place at 1pm. Entry is £8 per pair and is strictly limited to 24 pairs. No entries are taken on the day so please ring Tom on 267091. There will be a bar and food available.
