Ledbury & District Harriers' Chris Law and Dave Gwilliam stepped up their London Marathon training by taking on the Rhayader Round The Lakes 20-mile race on Saturday.

Despite the cold, windy conditions both Chris and Dave achieved good times on this tough demanding course, Chris coming home in a time of 2.28.01 followed by Dave in 2.48.51.

For Dave, this was his longest race ever prior to next month's London Marathon where he is raising money for the Stroke Association.

The following day saw five Harriers take part in the 10th running of the Forest Of Dean Trials Half Marathon, the early cold conditions soon dispersed to give the 1,353 runners warm, sunny conditions which obviously suited Barry Thompson as he flew round the course to finish in 31st overall in a time of 1.27.38, next home was Howard Abel in 1.36.34 followed by Steve Rooke 1.37.30, Bruce Butler 1.51.19 and Phil Reader on a 'family outing' in 2.45.58.

This Sunday (March 26), Thompson could well be taking on the challenge of the tough Cleevewold 14 multi-terrain race, the following Sunday, April 2, see's the Harriers travelling to Chedworth to take part in the Chedworth Roman 10, a 10-mile multi-terrain race.
